The Outrospectives are an all-star band led by Elden Kelly, joining Detroit's Ralphe Armstrong and Gayelynn McKinney with the East coast players Tucker Antell and Cory Pesaturo. This recording captures all the dynamism, energy, and excitement of this fantastic group live in concert.  

 

This is the NEW CD by The Outrospectives featuring live long-play versions of tunes by jazz composer and label founder Gregg Hill, recorded live at the intimate Trinity House Theatre May 11, 2019,  it represents a full and rich exploration of the material first introduced on the earlier “Dancing Light".

About the band:

 

Elden Kelly blends jazz and improvisation with world and classical music influences. As an instrumentalist, composer and singer his work has included several solo albums and collaborative works.

 

Ralphe Armstrong’s distinctive and legendary bass sound has been recorded with Eddie Harris, John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra, Larry Coryell, Jean-Luc Ponty, Geri Allen and Earl Klugh and more.

 

Drummer Gayelynn McKinney, founder of the group Straight Ahead, has performed with many artists including Aretha Franklin, James Carter, Regina Carter, Steve Turre and Roy Hargrove among others.

 

Cory Pesaturo is a preeminent and award-winning accordionist. The Guinness World Record winner travels all around the world as an ambassador of virtuoso accordion in genres of jazz and beyond.

 

Saxophonist Tucker Antell is a rising jazz star whose sound turns heads wherever he goes. He has performed with Esperanza Spalding, Antonio Sanchez and Larry Goldings among many others.
