Jazz Tuesdays Gregg Hill Composer Showcase Open to the Public · Hosted by Jazz Tuesdays at Moriarty's Pub
Jazz Tuesdays is a weekly event featuring great jazz musicians from all over the state of Michigan. Each week brings in a different guest artist and a new experience. This week we feature the music of East Lansing composer Gregg Hill. Well known as an important ambassador for and patron of jazz music, Gregg helped found the Jazz Alliance of Mid Michigan and plays an important role in supporting both the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival and the Lansing JazzFest, and is a 2017 sponsor for Jazz Tuesdays. Gregg has released two compendiums of compositions ("Outrospectives" and "Spontaneity") he created over the course of the last three decades, and in April 2017 produced a series of shows to document and promote his music. For this outing the band includes Jim Alfredson, keyboards, Trent Harris, saxophones, Larry Barris, guitar, and Jazz Tuesdays host Jeff Shoup, drums. The host band will play the first set at 7pm, followed by a jam session until 10! Jazz Tuesdays is generously sponsored by Gregg Hill Publishing, the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival, and INDe Drum Lab.
